Luther Dickinson’s 2016 album Blues & Ballads (A Folksinger’s Songbook) Vol. I & II is an ambitious double album that collects twenty-one tunes from throughout the multi-instrumentalist’s life and career—songs he wrote with his rock & roll band the North Mississippi Allstars, songs he learned from friends and family – like his dad, noted producer, musician and Memphis Music Hall of Fame inductee Jim Dickinson), songs passed down to him by his heroes and mentors, songs that have lived in the American subconscious for decades now—and pares them down to their irreducible elements. Voice, guitar, drums. Here and there some blues fife or Beale Street piano. He’ll bring this songbook to life at the Pure Memphis Music Series on March 22, alongside frequent collaborators (The Wandering, among other projects) Sharde Thomas and Amy LaVere.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Music Starts promptly at 7:30pm

The Pure Memphis Music Series is made possible thanks to The Downtown Memphis Commission.
