The Pure Memphis Music Series presents Pistol & The Queen on February 8. Pete Wood (itinerant musician, London) picked up hitchhiker Tracey Cayolle (guitar-slinger, New Orleans) just outside of The Women’s Correctional Facility of Tallulah, Madison Parish, Louisiana. Unperturbed by the fact that Wood was entirely incapable of piloting any form of automobile, the pair ultimately made their way to Clarksdale, Mississippi. After five days and five nights, they had recorded an album. They called the album – and themselves – The Pistol & The Queen. Currently resident exiles in Memphis, they have a new album out called Surrounded & Outnumbered.

The Old Dominick Pure Memphis Music Series is made possible in part by grant support from the Downtown Memphis Commission.
