Vanilla, anise and tobacco layered with caramel and crème brûlée, easing into a silky-smooth oak finish

Our first Bonded Tennessee Whiskey uses our signature Tennessee Whiskey mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley for a tasting experience that brings vanilla, anise, tobacco, caramel and creme brulee, with wisps of oak on a silky smooth medium finish. Our first release was laid down in barrels in the Fall of 2017 in our barrel room in our South Front Street distillery in the heart of Memphis.

WHAT IS TENNESSEE WHISKEY?

Tennessee Whiskey meets all the same legal requirements as bourbon, which means it must be made in the U.S., must be made from at least 51% corn, and must be stored in new, charred oak barrels.

But Tennessee Whiskey raises those standards even more. While bourbon doesn’t have to be made in Kentucky—contrary to a popular misconception—Tennessee whiskey must be produced in the state of Tennessee.

Before barrelling, Tennessee Whiskey must be filtered through sugar maple charcoal: the famous Lincoln County Process. That extra step removes certain esters and congeners, compounds that can make whiskey feel harsh.

• THE PROCESS •

From Grain to Glass

Crafted in the heart of Memphis, our process honors tradition with modern precision. Every drop is milled, distilled, and bottled on-site. The key to our taste? A dedication to old-world craftsmanship, including charcoal mellowing before the whiskey enters new American oak barrels. The result is a profile that is distinctly smooth and complex.

We had a wonderfully fantastic experience at the Old Dominick Distillery in Memphis! Even though we were traveling through and wouldn't be able to make the later tour, Matthew happily offered to give us an amazing and super informative tour of the distillery! Matthew made our tour really exciting and fun explaining both the history and processes used by the distillery! Also Rose at the bar was a joy to talk to and even gave us new ideas for things to explore in Memphis! We definitely liked her spirit to wear a cape that was the USA flag in celebration of 4th of July coming up! Would highly, highly recommend making a stop here passing by in Memphis or on a roadtrip through the city. Certainly a place worth enjoying! 😊
Everything about Old Dominick Distillery is 5 stars! The staff is friendly and welcoming, the bar is open and exciting, the distillery tour is fun and informative and the spirits are top shelf! We booked the "Making the Memphis Spirit" tour, which takes you from start to finish, grain to bottle, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! I wish I remembered our tour guides name, she was wonderful and very knowledgeable for only having worked there one year. Special shout out to Matt for a little behind the scenes tour! The tasting after the tour takes you from the clear stuff to the famous Toddy so you get a little of everything. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar afterwards and left with a couple bottles from the gift shop. The barrel aged gin is absolutely wonderful and unique, make sure you try some!
The tour was awesome! My guide Jacob was very informative and I learned so much. This is really an up close tour from start to finish. And the tasting at the end was great as well. Really fun experience- highly recommended!
Fun, engaging tour with a tasting flight at the end. You can also order flights at the bar—I tried both. The Tennessee Whiskey (85 proof) stood out as my favorite—smooth and perfectly balanced.
Beautifully decorated bar with huge windows overlooking the distilling equipment. You'll notice a distributive yeasty smell when you walk in, but it's not unpleasant. We tried four very different drinks and all were delicious. Strong, too. Happy hour, 4 to 7 on Thursdays. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own snacks. They also have a nice gift ship with everything from whisky glasses to plush Dominick chickens.
